Research
Do your research, find out as much as you can about the apprenticeship you want to apply for. You need to be convinced that this is the role you want – nobody wants to work in career that they don’t enjoy, so make sure you are making the right decision!
Research the car dealerships and garages you have in your local area.
Tailor your CV
Employers hiring apprentices straight from education do not expect a vast employment history to be listed on your CV. Instead you need to focus on your strengths, try not to over embellish your abilities and knowledge, be honest and think about how you can clearly demonstrate your skills and willingness to learn.
Core competencies you should include are:
- Listening Skills
- Problem solving
- Reliability
- A willingness to learn
- Passion
You maybe able to demonstrate these through work experience you have completed, teams or clubs you have been a part of or the grades you have achieved.
