Last week saw the first of this years IMI Skills competition National Qualifiers take place at Morelli group’s phenomenal Eyebox training and conference center in Coventry.
This year also saw a skills competition first, in that both Paint refinishing and Body repair qualifier heats took place in the same venue at the same time!. The event brought together the best Apprentices and full time students from across the UK to compete in a range of tasks designed by sector experts to test both their technical skills and knowledge, as well as their ability to maintain the highest quality workship under pressure.
The IMI team Careers and Competitions team, along with the expert judges and industry partners were on hand to ensure all the logistical and technical challenges that come with running such an event were conquered, and resulted in a superb showcase of the future talent in the automotive sector in action.
The top 6 from across the 3 days of competition in both categories will go through to the National finals in November. The qualifying competitors will be announced on the world skills website, here and on the IMI website on the 11th of July
